Common emergency eye situations

Red Eyes:

In many cases, red eyes occur due to inflammation or eye infections. These are treatable conditions. A proper diagnosis is determined by appropriate selective tests and microscopic examination to arrive at an effective treatment plan.

Foreign Bodies:

If you get something in your first, try to flush it out by rising it with eyewash, saline, or even tap water. If you still have persistent foreign body sensation, please contact our office. Metals can rust in the cornea, and many foreign bodies can attach themselves under the upper eyelid which are difficult to remove yourself.

Eye Pain:

Many conditions – such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers – can cause eye pain. Eye pain can precede vision loss in some cases, so it is important to see us promptly.

Flashes or Floaters:

Flashes and floaters are common symptoms that can indicate severe eye conditions such as retinal detachment or tears. These conditions may require immediate treatment.

Vision Changes or Loss:

If you are experiencing sudden and pronounced vision loss, it is imperative to be seen immediately. Call our office for an emergency visit.
